A shout out to Indiana welders...
Talbert Inc, located in Jasper County city will add an estimated 50 employees to its existing 100-person work force according to a report in the Journal and Courier Online.
This came about because Talbert snagged a $68 million contract from the U.S. Army to build 1,560 specialty trailers.
Most of the new positions will be created for Mig welders. There also will be a need for painters and assemblers. The average wage and benefit package for the new jobs is in excess of $20 an hour.
"There are a lot of Mig welders out there. The opportunity for a long-term position and the pay rate will draw people," said Kathy Fish, co-owner of Express Personnel Services in Lafayette, which will handle recruitment and hiring for the Talbert expansion. "I know we've already had calls from Illinois."
